Just a quick post because I’m really missing my spouse, and since I started this blog to help me cope with Dan’s Deployment, I thought I should share. You’re Welcome.
The only thing worse than crying alone is laughing alone. When you’re watching something funny on TV or when you see something that reminds you of a funny moment the two of you shared, you become acutely aware that he is gone. You can tell him about it when he calls, but chances are that by the time your phone rings, you will have forgotten all about it.
Laughing is one of my favorite things to do because of the emotion that accompanies the act. Pure joy…or something like it. Maybe everything else has gone wrong, but you can still laugh because you have someone to laugh with you. Maybe you’ve just made a huge idiot out of yourself, but the person who loves you laughs with love in their eyes because to them your ability to screw up so royally is all part of your charm.
I laugh almost everyday. My kids crack me up, and I have a saucy group of friends who seem unable to speak without humor or sarcasm.
But there is nothing as good as side-splitting, eye-watering laughter with your favorite person in the world.
Not sure which is worse…laughing or crying alone. I’ve done quite a bit of both recently.
I always get a kick out of catching myself laughing alone. I’ll be on the couch watching TV and then start laughing. Then I realize I just laughed out loud and I’m sitting here by myself…makes me laugh at how ridiculous I probably just looked laughing on a couch in a dark living room by myself.
Good times!
True that!
Word to your mother!
You had me at hello!
Umm-Hmm girlfriend…*wrist pop*finger snap!
This is VERY true. When I lay in bed and watch something that is funny, and I “LOL”, I catch myself being “alone” in the moment, which makes me feel stupid for “LOL”ing.
Girrrrrrl, let me tell you…I usually do stupid things (like leaving my husband’s orders back in NY when we PCS’d to Ft. Bragg lol) so my husband is usually the one to laugh AT me instead of WITH me, but it’s like you said…he laughs in a loving way, like in a “only YOU would” way that’s just so intimate. Well the other day I fell on the ice outside (right on my butt) and my dog let out this ungodly sound (probably like OH NO, MAMA’S DOWN!). My hubby isn’t here, so it just made me angry that he wasn’t there to laugh. It was odd, but I had to take a break from my puppy to get myself together. Thanks for making me feel normal lol
I have some moments like that too. The other day I fell on the ice and landed on my butt and while it did hurt, my focus was on my pup, who let out the most ungodly sound ever (kind of like the doggy version of “awwww s**t!”). I cried afterward cuz my husband wasn’t here to laugh with me.
Oops…sorry for littering your comments section…I thought my original comment hadn’t gone through. Womp womp. Lol
